Uniform Variation 1: Terran Empire

Now that you're familiar with the ENT jumpsuit, let's take a look at its variations!

There were two main variations of the ENT jumpsuit, and a third related "unofficial" jumpsuit counterpart.

The first ENT jumpsuit variation we'll examine is the version worn in the mirror universe's Terran Empire.

The TE jumpsuit was basically the same garment as the Starfleet jumpsuit in our universe, with a few modifications and additions, so we'll just highlight the major differences between the two.

The TE version of the ENT jumpsuit had black epaulets, on which the wearer's rank was indicated.

A nice touch was that these epaulets were attached in the reverse direction that epaulets typically go, visually contributing to the whole "backwards" feel of the mirror universe.

The TE uniform epaulets appeared to be made of black cotton twill and positioned so their centermost edges met the division stripes. They snapped into place on the outer shoulders.

The rebels' uniforms didn't have epaulets, though - presumably because they carried no rank (this wasn't a "Vulcans don't have epaulets" thing, since T'Pol's did).

An assortment of metal trinkets and decorations were worn on the chest.

Also, the men wore a harness/baldric/shoulder-strap-attached-to-a-belt-thing.

As mentioned previously, the mirror universe Enterprise crew had a different assignment patch:

Assignment patches varied in the mirror universe's Terran Empire, as well:

In addition to the assignment patch, the mirror universe TE jumpsuits had a patch of the iconic dagger-through-the-world Terran Empire logo on the right arm above the sleeve pocket.

Numerous photos of various mirror universe patches can be seen in our assignment patch photo library.

Perhaps the most obvious difference is that the ladies' TE uniforms weren't jumpsuits at all, but actually a two-piece ensemble consisting of extremely low-rise pants and an extremely short jacket.

Although the ladies' TE uniform was a two-piece uniform ensemble, each piece retained the majority of the traits of the jumpsuit (collar, division stripes, pockets, epaulets, etc.).

As you can see, the jacket had three-quarter-length sleeves as opposed to the full-length jumpsuit sleeves.

Also, the jacket zipper separated in the front (as opposed to the jumpsuits', which opened to the bottom of the zipper but, of course, did not separate).

And here's a little gold nugget for those of you still reading: the black undershirts on the ladies' TE uniforms appeared to be the same as the standard Starfleet ENT undershirt (except shorter), but according to every female TE uniform auction description we read, it was actually a dickey sewn onto the jacket itself!

(That makes sense when you think about it; why bother with an actual undershirt that's only seen a little bit at the upper front, and when the jacket and sleeves are so short? Also, why risk any "peek-a-boo" with the undershirt underneath the bottom of the jacket?)

As mentioned previously, the pants were extremely low-rise, and they were worn with a belt similar in style to the men's harness (thing), which held the dagger and phase pistol.
