Analysis, part 13e - Waist Straps, Extension

The degree to which the waist straps extended past the sides toward the center back varied.

The screen-used uniform "Lynsioux" photographed and shared had similarly-designed waist straps:

Most of the male ENT jumpsuits' waist straps we observed seemed to extend about that far, as well.

However, on some ENT jumpsuits, the waist straps extended much closer to the center back.

We have two theories as to why: first, the straps could have been a standard length and would therefore extend farther to the center back on wearers with smaller waists.

Or, the straps were not cut to a standard length and the distance they extended toward the center back was an intentional design choice based on the wearer's physique and what The Powers That Be thought looked best on them.

One curiosity regarding the waist straps was that Travis' two straps didn't appear to extend toward the center back the same amount; his lower strap appeared to be slightly longer than his upper one.

Travis' ENT jumpsuit was the only one on which we observed this peculiar design, with the possible exception of (one of?) Reed's jumpsuits:
