Stylistic Inspiration and Influences - TOS uniforms

Last but not least, although the Enterprise Starfleet uniforms were mostly unrelated to the TOS-era Starfleet uniforms, they did revert back to the TOS-era division colors - that is, switching command and helm/navigation back to gold and engineering/security/tactical back to red - and the incorporation of the black ENT undershirt collar poking out a bit underneath the jumpsuit was a nice subtle way to mimic the black collars on the TOS tunics.

TOS, 1x22 "Space Seed"
ENT, 4x9 "Kir-Shara"
ENT, 4x12 "Babel One"

(We're not sure why Hoshi, the communications officer, wore sciences green when Uhura wore red, though ...)

Overall, the Enterprise-era Starfleet jumpsuit was a fantastic uniform all on its own, and it not only served its purpose in the show but also fit quite nicely overall into the grand scheme of things in the Star Trek franchise; it "connected the dots," so to speak, between contemporary NASA uniforms, the First Contact flight suits, and the TOS-era Starfleet uniforms, with modern-era Star Trek uniform aesthetic seasoning to boot!

Now that you're familiar with the ENT jumpsuit's overall construction, as well as some of its stylistic inspirations and influences, let's move on to a detailed analysis!
